What's used in window treatments?
 

So what kind of accessories and things are used to put together a window treatment?  The following accessories defines what stuff are used to make a window treatment as well as its purpose in decorating the windows:

Curtains- A piece of cloth designed to block light or for privacy. They come in a variety of designs, fabrics, colors, shapes and sizes to please all tastes of people. Although they are also known as draperies, the reference of “curtains” usually attains a more simple look of covering up a window. Curtains are one of the most common forms or window treatments.

Draperies- A decorative kind of curtain.  It is usually hung gracefully from windows in loose decorative folds to enhance a window.

Valance- A shorter decorative drapery that hangs on the tops of a window to create an elegant heading.  Valances are usually used to conceal the top rough parts of curtains and longer draperies.

Scarves- A longer drapery that forms a valance on the top of the window to cover the curtain tops and cascades down on both sides of the window.  Scarves form a sort or wrap around the window like a frame.

Tassels- A decorative ornament of plaited or entangled threads that are bunched together at one end like a ball while the other end hands as threads freely and usually in equal length. It is usually a decorative tough to add onto curtains and other draperies.

Cornice- A molding that is usually hung horizontally to hide rods, hooks and other unsightly parts of the hanging.

Panel- A vertical section of fabric that covers one side of a window like a curtain.

Rods- A decorative slender bar where the curtains/draperies are hung from.  Some have designs on the ends to enhance the decor of the windows.
